HAPPY PAL-ENTINES DAY, PALS!
Valentines can be such a great excuse to eat a bunch of chocolate and there is no better way to eat chocolate than in a chocolate mousse. Chocolate mouse is a classic dessert that is served in many restaurants, and for good reason. It is easy to prepare, showcases quality ingredients, and can be custom tailored to your needs.
Typically chocolate mousse is made with chocolate, cream, eggs, vanilla, and sometimes gelatin. This recipe takes a much simpler approach and still comes out ahead in flavour. I was shown this recipe by a former head chef of mine and I have stuck with it ever since. It is very simple, and extremely delicious, especially if you source quality chocolate to make it from.
WORLDS BEST AND EASIEST Chocolate Mousse π
Ingredients:
- 500g chocolate- (whatever you like, but dont be cheap. This isnβt the time for that!)
- 500g whipping cream
- Note: you can use however much you want, as long as its equal proportions. I simply feel 1kg of chocolate mousse is appropriate.
Method:
- Set a pot of water on the stove. Roughly chop your chocolate and place in a steel bowl. Turn the stove onto low, and allow the chocolate to melt over a slight simmer. Remove from heat and let the chocolate come to room temperature.
- Place your whipped cream in the chilled bowl of a stand mixer. Beat until still peaks form.
- Mix in the chocolate in 2 batches, using a spatula. Be gentle but thorough.
- Pour into a dish and set in the fridge.
- Serve chilled, alone, or with topping such as whipped cream, berries, chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, nuts, seeds, dried fruit, and liqueurs. Offer a variety of choices for a fun option.
