Apple Puffs

This is the fastest dessert you can make. With few ingredients, most of which you probably have on hand, this is a great treat to get you through those sweet cravings!

An Apple Puff, which is puff pastry, apples, oats, and vanilla ice cream, sits on a white plate.

Ingredients

  • 1 package of puff pastry- thawed
  • 1 can of dulce de leche
  • 3 apples
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 cup oats
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • pinch of salt if using unsalted butter

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375.
  2. In a bowl, combine the butter, brown sugar, oats, and cinnamon and set aside.
  3. On a baking tray lined with parchment or a silpat, roll out your puff pastry until its about 5 mm thick. Cut it into rectangles, in 6 pieces. Top each piece with a tablespoonful of dulce de leche. Don’t push it past the edge or it will burn.
  4. Slice the sides off of your apples and then slice crosswise into 1-2mm thick strips. Fan your slices into a long sheet.
  5. Set the apples into the dulce de leche. Top with the oat crumble.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until the outside is brown and crispy and the apples are soft.
  7. Drizzle with remaining dulce de leche and some vanilla ice cream 🙂

For best results- don’t cut the apples too thick or they won’t cook in time!
